Black people are beautiful and I love that I look unquestionably black
Do they like me or do they like what I do for them and how I make them feel?
I want to be coddled right now. I want to be treated with extra gentleness and care. I deserve to be seen as soft and fragile. Dark-skinned, gender marginalized ppl are rarely treated with compassion and it sucks that even the folks who say they love me don’t realize they’re treating me harshly. It sucks to realize that even my friends see me as super human and thus afford me less humanity.
Part of what makes it hard to get out of bed is realizing that there’s nowhere else to really go
