EXECUTION - MIN-YUN YI
MIN-YUN YI, SUPER HIGH-SCHOOL LEVEL MAKNAE, HAS BEEN FOUND GUILTY.
COMMENCING EXECUTION . . .
[Dramatical Irony!]
Min-yun opens her eyes on a stage. It’s a familiar enough scenario, except for the fact that she’s the only one on the ground, and she can’t see anything. Also...shouldn’t she be dead? Shakily she stands, squinting against the bright lights that are shining onto the stage. Too bright. There are five figures around her, all dressed in glittery skirts and heels. Seemingly in shock, Mimi scrubs tears from one of her eyes and stares at the girl next to her. Even though the other girl doesn't move from her pose, Min-yun's face lights up brighter than you've ever seen.
"Eli! You found me!"
The girl, apparently the Eli that Min-yun has mentioned before, doesn't respond. Still, Min-yun smiles happily, examining the backs of the rest of the group members- all she can see from her position.
You, however, can see the whole scene. You and your classmates make up the front row of the crowd. Despite the thousands of people in the audience, it's eerily silent aside from Min-yun's cheery voice. When you turn to look behind you, you get a shock- the crowd is full of paper people, shoddy excuses for faces drawn on in expressions of boredom. When you look back up at the stage, you realize that Min-yun has no idea- the lights are blinding her. Even more horrific is the faces of the other idols, staring out at you. They're waxy, like dolls frozen with their faces in perpetual pain. Min-yun can't see this either. She continues to smile in her impression that she's been reunited with her group.
[♫♫♫♫]
Suddenly there's the sound of loud interference over the speakers, and a cheery pop tune begins playing. Min-yun looks surprised, but instinctively moves into position to begin the dance for 6star's hit song. This couldn't be a punishment, could it? Sure, her eyes hurt, and the music was a bit loud, and it was hot onstage, but she wasn't being torn apart. Maybe, if she made it her best performance ever, she’d live.
Her face fixes into a dazzling smile, only reduced by the dry tear tracks down her cheeks, and she begins to dance along with the 'members' of her group. You watch from the audience as she twirls and steps around the dolls, obviously in her element- and not realizing how creepy the figures she’s dancing with are. The song is cheery, not matching the tone of the scenario at all. The pained faces of the group members stare blankly into the equally blank audience, moving mechanically, stiffly. Min-yun is the only one showing any life, any energy.
As she dances, she begins looking more and more confused... as well as worried. When would the execution begin? Was she just meant to dance herself to death? As she steps in front of the other idols to begin her rap solo, she stares frustratedly into the audience, trying in vain to see what's in the crowd. The lights may be too bright for her, but they don't prevent you from seeing what's happening behind her.
You watch in horror as the models of the idols behind her freeze, begin moving forward towards her tiny form as she continues rapping, smiling out at the crowd despite the fact that she can't see who's there. A performer until the end, it would seem. But, alas- the faces of the idols seem to be warping, melting off under the heat of the lights to reveal harsh metal forms with glowing red eyes. Some of your classmates try to yell- maybe even you- trying to warn Mimi of the terrifying machines behind her, but the music only grows louder, drowning out your voices. By the time Mimi's rap is over, five sharp-looking robots stand in puddles of wax and torn fabric onstage, surrounding her ominously.
The unfortunate maknae waves at the crowd, turning back to take her place for the chorus...and freezes at the sight of them, closer than they should be. A shrill scream cuts through the background track as she takes a step back, holding her hands out to try and fend them off. The microphone falls from her hand, hitting the floor with a burst of interference. Still, the energetic chorus continues to play as she takes another step back, and another, until her heels are hanging off the edge of the stage. The figures haven't moved. They seem to watch her as the song ends, fading into a silence- and then Min-yun realizes that the crowd is dead silent. As the machines take a step forward, the lights abruptly cut out, apart from a single spotlight settling on the scene onstage.
Poor Min-yun Yi stands cornered by the metallic corpses of the people she loves most, on the stage that is the only place she's not useless. You can hear her weak sobs in the ominous silence, the only sound in the room. The robots have stopped an arms-length from her. She doesn’t seem to know what to do- the stage is too high. You’re almost looking straight up at her now, in your front-row seats.
"Take a bow." A female voice rings out in the room. It's cold and harsh, and Mimi seems to recognize it.
Slowly she turns to face the crowd, eyes blearily focusing. The expression on her face is sheer terror, the hundreds of ways she could die obviously circling her mind- that is, until her gaze settles on you, her classmates, in the front. Those she'd saved with her crime. Her friends, staring back at her with various degrees of pity, distress, anger, sadness.
That's right. An idol never shows it when they're sad.
Min-yun's face twists into a smile, and she opens her mouth to speak. All that comes out is a weak “Thank-”
Four razor-sharp arms shoot out, grabbing her and holding her in place. The sharpened metal digs into her, drawing blood, staining her sweater and running down her arms. She screams in pain, yanking against her restraints and looking desperately into the crowd, as if someone is going to come save her. Finally, she gives one last tug, one of the arms seeming to come loose- she’s free, and-
The arm of the last robot plunges through her chest, cutting out her final screams forever. In the end, the body of Min-yun Yi hangs limp at the front of the stage, still supported by the arms of her group members, blood dripping into the audience from the hole where her heart once was.
And to think, you got front-row seats! There are people who’d die for those, you know!
