There were so many different kinds of people up on the surface. Not everyone could breathe underwater, much less grew a tail when they touched the water. It was sou fascinating seeing different kinds or people for a change, but also a little overwhelming at times.

Never having been to the surface until now, Caspian often times finds himself at a loss for words or feeling a little lost about what actions are appropriate on the surface. He recently experienced a bit of an embarrassing moment on the street the other day, walking out onto the street to run his hands along the smooth reflective surface of a car. To say the driver wasn’t all too pleased to see this would be an understatement.

Today wasn’t that much better, the young merman found himself feeling slightly swamped with all of these new changes up on the surface. He huffed slightly as he crossed his legs together, pulling a blanket over his lap and turning to his new friend, a vampire who had shown him kindness and opened her heart to him. Wearing a gloomy expression on his face he spoke up over the television show they had been watching together, 

“Minah? Is it hard to interact with so many different species?” he sighed softly and pinched the blanket between his thumb and index finger, “I feel like I’m not talking to them right and they just get upset with me...”

jae’s entire body freezes, the bottle of beer still set against his lips and slowly filling his cheeks. only he doesn’t swallow it, or at least not until he almost chokes and brings the bottle down again, coughing and snorting most of the liquid back out. he knew minah would ask the question someday and it was one he had to admit he was curious about himself, they just hadn’t found the right time to discuss it yet. still he hesitates no matter how much thought he had put into it prior to her asking. ❝ there was one girl. ❞ he eventually admits and then another pause as he wonders just how much she wants to hear about it. ❝ it didn’t last long. i broke it off once i realized i was only using her because – because i thought it would help me move on… but it didn’t. ❞

oh my, looks like @minahxcalypso is in trouble now. 

it’s been a busy week for leader, but that doesn’t give her an excuse to slack off, nor does she need to take a rest from life. as much as she fancies an easy life, jiwon doesn’t want to just sit down and do nothing, especially when she’s in charge of the gang now. true, it would be easy for her to just order her underlings around, but the witch would rather deal with some things by herself, only spoken to her co-leader if necessary. jiwon hasn’t been around the headquarters much these days and she’s not complaining, after all it’s quite frustrating to just be in her room all day, or night, so it feels fresh to be able to work outside, even if it tires her endlessly.  

somehow she manages to find some free time that morning. jiwon heads to the nearest coffee shop to get her daily dose of caffeine. it’s pretty much early, so there isn’t many people, but as soon as she steps out of the shop, jiwon spots a familiar face on the street---it’s too strange to be called a coincidence, for that she has seen that girl for more than three times now. perhaps it’s the right time to be suspicious of how she seems to appear at every place jiwon goes to, if not all, most of them, so this time she decides that she would confront this girl for real. there is one plausible guess to why she keeps on seeing this girl, but she would have to ask about it. 

the girl seems to be waiting for someone (perhaps it’s the witch, if her assumption about this is right) from the other side of the road, so after observing her for a second, jiwon finally decides to head over there, wanting to put an end to all of this suspicion. upon reaching the other side and walking closer to the girl, she puts on a fake gasp as she looks at the other. “oh, looks like we have met again. do you remember me?” it’s an odd question to ask to a stranger, but jiwon is certain the girl knows the answer. “pretty sure it’s hard to forget someone you follow around so religiously like that.” she lets out a chuckle. “let me guess, did jaesung send you?”

it's a cold night. the wind knocks jaesung around his ears but he does not feel it, instead he stands frozen against the hood of his jeep. he has his head bowed down with a black cap concealing most of his face as he waits for his companion to arrive. it's just a preliminary meeting, a small technicality that would set the tone of any future gatherings. the shortest but also the most important one of all - bringing in new people was always risky and it really only took one person to make or break the current dynamics between gangs.

he is not one to keep a lady waiting so he arrives early, wanting to dress to impress as he pulls out his nicest dress shirt and best pants, wrists bare since he wishes not to be distracted by time. but it also means that he can't tell if geomeun son's newest advisor is actually on time or not when a pair of headlights glide over the empty parking lot of a nearby mall - neutral territory they had called.

jaesung waits until she turns off the engine and the sound of closing car door echoes through the darkness before he lifts his head. but when he finally does so, it feels like his heart dropped to the deepest pits of his existence, stomach turning and aching as if it's his body telling him it doesn't want it anymore. for it is not calypso he is meeting but...

"minah."

the name, barely a whisper as it is, vibrates through the air . his mind must be playing tricks on him there is no other way. it can't be that minah - beautiful minah, his minah - is standing in front of him right now. it must be the years of inhaling toxic fumes finally catching up to him or maybe it's immortality finally getting the better of him. he isn't quite sure. all he knows in this moment is that it isn't real. he would have known if she was back. he should have known. and yet here she is and this time she doesn't disappear, no matter how long she stares, no matter how many times he bats his eyes. his lips part but he has no words left to say and so all he does is stare. and stare.
