The streets were a lot busier than usual. Chaerin suspected it was due to the weather, which had been unusually warm for that day and plus, with the sun high in the sky, it was as though people crawled out of their caves long enough to bask in the warmth before the cold winter took over once more.
Chaerin didn’t mind, though. There were times when atmospheres like this were welcomed, especially if Chaerin had a day off and her attention wasn’t immediately needed elsewhere. She hadn’t made any plans per se, but she figured she’d think of something along the way. If not, then at least she got out for a bit.
She stopped at a street vendor to pick up a snap and continued on her way, remembering a new shop that had opened nearby that she had thought about visiting. As she tried to remember the exact location of where it was, she realized she had passed the street she needed to go down to get there. She came to an immediate stop and turned around, trying to backtrack and collided into someone.
“Oh, I’m so sorry!” she said, taking a few steps back to put some space between her and the other person. “I wasn’t thinking, I just realized I had been going the wrong way. Are you alright?”
Winter was probably one of the more fascinating seasons, but also one of the most brutal. The waters would become freezing, and everyone would migrate to warmer waters until winter found them, following behind slowly. Caspian had only ever seen snow from the water, but it would never accumulate on the crests of waves. Melting into the salty water the moment they touched.
He had been cooped up in his apartment building for the majority of the week thanks to the weather, the skies were greyed and cloudy. The wind was merciless, blowing the soft piles of snow around, nipping at any exposed skin that dared to show itself in the frigid winter weather. Now that the sun finally came out and warmed things up, the raven haired boy could finally go outside and get his hands on the curious white fluff that lined the streets.
Once he was outside, he didn’t hesitate to shove his hands into the crumbly cotton, eyes bright with amazement. He spent the next several minutes kneading the snow, poking holes into it, cupping it into his hands, and kicking it around. He was ecstatic, this was one of the most exciting things that he’s gotten to experience. Caspian was so absorbed in his delight that he didn’t realize what had happened to cause him to fall into the pile of snow he was playing with.
The smaller whined at the suddenly freeze that washed over him, clambering up from the snow clumsily, he looked up towards the sound of the voice asking if he was alright,
“Hnnn, yeah, I’m okay...,” he dusted himself off as best he could and offered a weak chuckle, “Are you okay? I’m sorry I was standing in the middle of the sidewalk...”
He suddenly felt very tiny, embarrassed, he really hoped that he didn’t cause this girl too much trouble, even if it was only a little accident.
