i have never watched the show "mine" and i legit only know them from your gifset and tags, but please correct me if im wrong .... did the other woman paint the paintings and published them to say indirectly "you will fall in love with me (my art) over and over again, without even knowing it`s me, wether you like it or not" cause that WILL get me to start watching this show. it would be such a unique brand of romance

Oh, wow, well, that's an extremely romantic framing of it, indeed. And not exactly wrong, I'd say.

Essentially, the two were together until our main character, Seo-Hyun, ended things between them permanently a couple years back and Suzy, the painter, left the country to go be successful in Europe or whatever. But she's returned now, and twice, in previous eps, has tried to reach out to Seo-Hyun and been rebuffed both times, first by phone, and then by reaching out to her museum. But in this ep itself, when Seo-Hyun went to another museum to check out its works, whose paintings were staring back at her but Suzy's, very recognizable and praised.

And the gifset you just saw, Suzy went and painted in a style different to her own but still enough to pull Seo-Hyun in, and I'm gonna gif the follow-up scene but when Seo-Hyun does go to see this no-name and their paintings the next day, immediately she's reminded of her past with Suzy.

But I dunno that I'd start watching the show just for that! It's not been a huge part of the show so far, but Seo-Hyun is, so it's been interesting to see. I think you could give it a try but you'd have to like the other characters and story to keep watching.

i'm all for suzy & seo-hyun but hi-soo and seo-hyun would be so good of a twist tbh .. they legit were holding hands walking into the art gallery when seo-hyun gifted hi-soo one of suzy's painting!

Ugh, I knowwwww. Honestly, after the whole BTS fiasco and the fact that Suzy was getting one minute screentime if that, I was really starting to veer toward Hi-Soo, but then 1x09 happened. I can't stand against THAT level of romance and pining and yearning. YOU are my painting? Longing for you has become a part of my life? Like? And with the ages from the flashbacks, how young were they when they met and fell in love? How much of her life has been loving this woman?

Buuuut, on the other hand, I love Hi-Soo SO much. Honestly, these are my two favorite archetypes, Seo-Hyun as the stern but compassionate one, and then Hi-Soo as incredibly caring and loving while being extremely sharp and perceptive, kindness always being a choice rather than the default. And that they're actually so supportive of each other and emerging as the central dynamic? I could ship them soooo easily.

Like, they're mirrors of each other, right, Seo-Hyun seen as the cold one with the hard exterior but secretly so nice, while Hi-Soo's the one everyone thinks is soft and an open book but actually with this core of steel. They're slowly beginning to understand each other more and more and even becoming a little like each other, as the story goes. It's hard not to ship that kind of...knowing, you know? But of course it's not to be.

Oh my god!!!! That scene was exactly how I imagined it and more! Omg! Suzy is so brave! SHE GRABBED HER WRIST AND MY HEART STOPPED! STOPPED I TELL YOU! I want them to kiss so bad. I cannot take this why am I so invested?!??

It was a REALLY good scene. The dialogue was so incredibly romantic and angsty, using painting as a theme for both but inspiration and passion for Suzy while for Seo-Hyun it's memories and longing. I remember thinking, oh, is this why y'all like your little Portrait movie. :P

And for real, if they didn't have certain limitations, you'd really expect a kiss at the end.
