Hey, if its not too much trouble could you make a tutorial for the text effect on your last graphic ?
English is not my first language but I’m gonna try. I assume you mean this graphic, send me another ask if I’m wrong.
What you’ll need;
After Effects
Photoshop (Or any other Editing program that can create Gifs)
This Font
Warning;; This Tutorial is pretty picture Heavy.
Note;; I just picked up After Effects myself, so there are probably a few points where there’s an easier way to do it. On the bright side; you need absolutely no prior knowledge of After Effects to follow this Tutorial, because I don’t have it either. For the Basic controls; Use your Mousewheel to scroll in/out and press it to Grab and Move.
1. Make a new composition; I used 800x400 as size.Use whatever colors you want, but I think it’s easier to just leave the background white and use black for the letters.
2. Type your text; each letter as it’s own layer, you can either arrange them all on the same height or mix it up a bit, it doesn’t matter except for another small step on the next point. Your compositions panel should now look like this:
3. Convert text to Shapes; Right-klick your layer and choose “Create Shapes from Text” (start at the top so your text will be in proper order.). You can delete the Text Layers afterwards.
3.1 If your Letters are on different heights; Use the Pen tool (G) and drag the top of your letter
so it’s all on the same height.
If you need a reference for the heigh, you can use a solid letter as a base point. (Right-klick your composition and cloose New → Solid)
4. Animating; First of all reduce the lenght of your composition to two seconds; just drag this little bar
to 02:00f. Now press CTRL+P for the Puppet pin Tool. Set your first Pin (or the first two depending on the letter) on top of the Letter and the next Pins (usually 3-8 depending on the letter) evenly over the rest. Like this:
Now press U, your Layer should expand like this;
Now select all of your Pins (Except for the one or two on top) and change the x value as shown below (when you hover over the number a little arrow appears and you can drag it either to the left or right)
Now copy your Keyframes and paste them to the end of your Composition. (If you don’t do this your animation won’t loop). Add 2-3 sets of Keyframes between the existing ones; just move the yellow arrow (Marked in Green above) To where you want your keyframes to be and change the x value. The more you move the x value the faster your animation will be. In the end it should look something like this;
Repeat this for all your letters.
5. Saving;; For an easier use save it transparent. To do so you first need to turn off your background using this button
Now add your Composition to your Render queue (File → Export → Add to Render Queue) Klick on Output Module:Lossless And change your settings to this;;
And Name it before klicking Render. Afterwards just go to Photoshop and import your .mov. (File → Import →Video frames to Layers).
6. Changing Colors & moving Pattern Overlay;; Group your layers, then Copy your frames and paste them into the graphic you want (Like any other gif overlay) to change the color simply use a color fill layer and set it to Clipping mask on top of the group.
6.1. Moving Pattern overlay;; Paste your frames a second time and move them slightly behind the other set, like this
Now open a new Document to make the pattern, the one I use is from here. Color your pattern however you want; when you’re satisfied with it duplicate it (to use as reference) (if you use a solid pattern set the first layer to 30% opacity to see the layer below) Now go to “Create frame animation” on your timeline and add a second frame. On the second frame use the move tool on your top layer to move it down, It should end up exactly on top of your reference layer (which you can delete now). Select both frames and klick this
The frames to add depend on how many frames you have on your graphic, for example if your Graphic has 30 frames you can either add 28 frames (for a total of 30) or 13 (for a total of 15) etc. I added 13 frames and my finished overlay looks like this:
Now Copy the frames and again paste them into your Graphic. It should only be one layer (Or two/three if you added less than 28 frames) Move the layers over the bottom group and again set them to Clipping mask.
Aaaand thats it. You’re finished. I hope this was helpful, if you have any questions just send me an ask.
