The Copper Golems are finally here!

Once again, a Minecraft vote loser makes its way into the game! But some time has passed, and its function has changed.

The Copper Golem no longer presses buttons or anything of the sort! Instead, it'll move items from copper chests to normal chests with those same items!

Excellent for putting everything where it needs to go! Alongside that, Mojang has add new copper armor and tools! They're just between stone tools and iron in terms of strength.

Great day for you guys who hoard copper for no reason!

I don’t think non-swedes understand how iconic it is of Minecraft to announce the copper updates in the Falun copper mine 😭🫶 It is literally THE mine, and has existed since the 1500s. It’s also the reason for the existence of those classic red swedish houses (the mine made a BUNCH of red paint, starting in the 1600s. So much so that basically everyone were using it, which they still are to this day). It even made the world heritage list!

Minecraft should add more blocks like copper. For one, it's fun to see more blocks in the mines than the basics, but also it's so versatile.

With all the different stages of oxidation, you're basically getting four blocks for the price of one. That's not mentioning the fact that it's an entirely unique building block: most building blocks are either stones or woods, so having a metal building block is snazzy. It's such a neat texture that you don't get anywhere else.

Point being MINECRAFT!! We love copper! Give us more stuff like copper!

I don't really see why people hate copper so much (Minecraft post)

I get it doesn't have much uses but I don't really see a need for a new sword or axe? Copper is a pretty building block though, which was suppose to be it's purpose. Not everything needs a use, and Minecraft already added a new weapon in this update, a mace! Looking at the update it also added other new useful things that's useful for survival instead of building like the new potions and enchantments. Anyways, looking at the copper crafting options it seems like you can craft a spyglass and a lighting rod. Though I do hope that they will add more crafting stuff for copper I don't see the use for a copper sword.

It makes sense that, of the two items in Minecraft that can redirect/channel lightning, one (the Lightning Rod) is confirmed to be made of Copper, since between the two conductive metals in the game, Copper beats out Gold in conductivity, and real Lightning Rods are made primarily of Copper.

Copper is also well-known for its patina, the color change to a green-blue when oxidized. What’s interesting, though, is that when Copper oxidizes, it does (very minutely) become less conductive.

So, here we have the Trident

A similar body color to oxidized Copper, and it can gain/regain its conductive properties when enchanted?

It’s also fun that, in the 1.17 update, Drowneds have a chance to drop Copper, instead of Gold

Shelfs and posable copper golem statues are available for bedrock previews!

Once fully oxidized, the copper golem can turn into a new type of block that can be picked up and placed anywhere with a variety of poses! The shelf makes for excellent decoration and is great for showing off items!

Not only that, but when power by redstone, you can use it to swap out your entire hotbar for a completely different set of items! Great for switching out your immediate inventory setup!

They also just look nice!
