minecraft potions headcanons!!!!!!
I had some ideas about health potions.
Maybe they work super duper fast so they are great for patching up small injuries, but when a wound is very deep/severe you shouldn't take a health potion as it would heal everything together too fast and then you would have issues with scar tissue.
A potion of regeneration, by contrast, works by jacking up your body's own healing power so that it can deal with the injury. If it is too powerful however, it would run the same risk as the health potion. So the best course of action if you are hurt is to stop any immediate bleeding, then spend a while resting and sipping diluted potions so you can heal well :D
