Bloodcraft: Humans
Humans first appeared in Overworld roughly 3,000 years ago. The membranes between worlds fluctuated at just the right location and time, drawing in hundreds and hundreds of terrified people and leaving an empty village.
Simular occurances transpired throughout the lands in the following years. Sometimes snatching part of or an entire army, a castle snd its people, or lone travelers. Occasionally a ship wouldn't return, but storms were not the cause.
Populations of humans have long been established since, and there are several cities now across various continents and islands in Overworld.
Some frown upon the use of magic and others embrace it. It makes treating diseases and injuries easier, though humans have continued to advance in medicine. Technology has taken a different path and a few communities want little to do with it, preferring to stick to what they once knew. Redstone powers the major cities, and is contained in sealed and buried metal lines that run from lamp post to lamp post.
Homes and businesses enjoy Redstone coil heating for cooking and comfort. And an added benefit of the lighting is it is less harsh on the night sky. Wildlife is less affected by it, and it is easier on the eyes overall.
Strong communities of humans have meant less internal strife, especially since monsters are a threat. It has enabled many humans to put aside their differences and focus on each other's well being. There is still bigotry and bias and life is far from a utopia, but people make a bigger effort for the greater good.
Villagers are not often seen as equals unfortunately, as their tendency towards focusing so much on being pacifist is viewed as ridiculous and weak. Many humans find it infuriating how they choose to flee rather than fight enemies such as Illagers, and cannot find much sympathy for them.
Illagers are viewed with the same level of hatred that humans can hold for predatory animals and an armed enemy. Humans are really not fond of being seen as food, it is not only deeply unsettling but it bruises a lot of egos to not be at the top of the food chain.
