Hello there! I'm starting a server (Rewritten SMP) so you can use all the characters left on the shelf!
This story driven server has a variety of mods and it is recommended that you only join if your computer can handle said mods. The mods won’t be too heavy, but I wanted to mention it.
On the topic of mods the highlights are:

No Man’s Land, an up-and-coming biome generation mod
Magic mods like Hexerai and Hexalia
Mermod with the possibility for mermaid tails and underwater buffs!
