My next long term project has started, and it's gonna be a big one, or it's gonna be an unfinished one if I get burnt out, which is totally okay.
Introducing the city of Quainton, a city based on late 1800's London with a steampunk twist. The first build in the project is the government building, which I tell myself houses a parliament, like I actually know what a parliament is. The building has four main wings?buildings?sections? built around two inner courtyards /gardens. The build was mostly done with some clever world editing so it didn't actually take very long. There are three extra buildings for government stuff, and a closed in yard housing stables and storage. There is also a clocktower, which connects to an airship landing platform, and has an open area at the top for more airship/hot air balloon docking. Once the city is more developed I plan to add some flags and airships docking at the clocktower.
The idea for this came about while reading a series of steampunk novels about a plucky scientist named Langdon St. Ives who goes on all sorts of whacky adventures with his group of loyal friends. The books are written by James P. Blaylock and I highly recommend them. I've also been watching The Gilded Age and The Alienist on HBO so my mind has been firmly stuck on the late 1800s aesthetic. The problem is I'm fully stocked on inspiration, but absolutely drained on motivation because having a job is awful, and drains my soul out of me.
Builds planned for the project include large parks, an opera house/ theater (with interior), a museum, some nice bridges with one being based on the Tower Bridge in London, and plenty of airships, steamships, and maybe even trains.
