it’s meant to be a euphoric moment , filled with bliss that rips through her seams and overtakes her. she should be beaming , forced into an uncontrollable smile with cobalt eyes gleaming. yet , all that swallows her is loneliness and SORROW. it carves a hole in her heart until there is this emptiness that rots. she had dreamed of this , whispered childishly to the stars how joyous she’d be the day she could leave. the day is here and there is no elation to be sought ; only this haunting realization of all that she has lost. it was a foolish hope , but a piece of her imagined they’d be here with open arms. she knew they were GONE , but maybe all of this had been a long - lasting nightmare. that was wishful thinking though ; reality’s bite was much crueler than anticipated. she hadn’t considered how lonesome it would feel to walk out the doors and know nobody was there. she does so anyways with a heart that weighs her down and eyes that lack a spark of something good.
breeze kisses her skin first , sun peaking behind grey clouds just to spread across her skin. she pulls her hair down , combing nimble digits through blonde strands. each step is a step closer to what feels like internal homelessness , but there’s something — SOMEONE — calling. the sound of her name floats in the air in a tone aged but familiar. she lifts her head , faintly optimistic eyes searching. and suddenly , replenished promise of love blooms in her chest. she had not expected him ; he had stopped finding ways to visit so long ago. abandonment had clawed at her the days he didn’t return and she had dejectedly accepted fate. but now , the light finds its way back into her eyes and the world becomes less lonely and more vibrant. mouth parts to speak , but she fails to form words so she settles for his name. voice might be whittled down and cracked , but she has one despite how frail it may be. ❝ chance! ❞
