mingalbee replied to your post: The start of a week of mentoring 52 high school...
aww! i hope you have a great time inshaAllah!
Thanks!! It should be a great week. I did this last year too and I had a blast.
I'm almost full Native American from both maternal and paternal sides of my family. However, due to the pressures on Native Americans, my ancestors eventually intermarried and lost their documents showing their heritage. Because I have lighter olive skin, I'm dubbed by society as white. It's sad that today I'm put in the same category as the people who came here and killed off most of my ancestors just because I am not fully Native American and don't appear to others to have that lineage.
you know what?
I actually met a lot of people that are like that as a matter of fact.
And some Syrians look more European than let's say someone from Southern Spain.
That's why I'm against the idea of the term "White" because like in your case or other cases, it's not simply a skin tone that defines your ethnicity.

i’m finishing up page 6 and mine’s supposed to be 8 pages. i really think i’m just gonna make it to 7 and give up. :S
Don't give, what time is the paper due? Sadly, I just finished most of the intro and it only took me 2+ hours. Now, that leaves me with 4 pages to write and I have to write my other paper. :'(
Asalaamualaykum. I just sincerely wanted to tell you how much I appreciate the way in which you address questions like the several you received earlier today. The way that you can convey your own viewpoint without demeaning another person's is truly honorable. I hope other brothers and sisters can look at this type of behavior and see how much more beneficial it is to discuss things maturely and peacefully instead of reverting to hate/fear speech.
Waleikum Al Salam. Thank you so much, this message really made me smile wallah.
Basic etiquette no matter what must be upheld in discussing any matter, if we want to be taken seriously and to ever get a point across.
