A village near Bengaluru that Iran never forgot.
350 years ago, a group of Shia Muslims fled persecution by the Mughals and settled in a small village called Alipur, Karnataka. They brought their language, their mosques, their rituals, and never let go.
Today, Alipur is 99% Shia Muslim. Roads are named after Iranian leaders. The mosques look like Tehran. And the gemstone trade still runs through Iran and Dubai.
