I think the fascinating thing about cassettes is that people regularly talk about them as if they're a dead media.
And yet!!
The minicassette (a much smaller type of cassette used for dictation) is still alive and well. There's still a company putting out minicassette recorders and minicassettes themselves.
And this is fascinating to me specifically because--well okay we have to take a slight detour here but hear me out.
I found an old mini-cassette tape recorder in the attic and to test it out i direct connected it to my interface and recorded Hecq's song Nightfalls with it.
The amount of wobble and tape saturation makes me giddy. This will be used a LOT in future recordings!
