Tonight, I saw Motherhood the Musical with my mom at the Miniaci Theater at Nova University. (We drove to the Broward Center first, only to be told it wasn't there. Oops! Luckily, we had enough time to drive over to Nova and get our tickets before the show started.) The theater was pretty small, so I had a close view of the stage. At first, I thought I wouldn't enjoy the show that much because it's all about being a mom, and dealing with kids. However, the show turned out to be hilarious, with clever lyrics and funny scenes. The actresses all had amazing voices.
In a nutshell, the show is about four moms, all in different stages of motherhood. The play mainly focuses on an anxious, pregnant, new-mom. She listens to the advice and tales from her friends, who already have their own children. The story tells about the challenges motherhood brings, such as dealing with whining kids, doing the laundry, and getting older. There's even a whole sparkly number about Costco! Haha! There were some emotional songs, which my mom cried through, but mostly she laughed through the entire show. It's a great show to take your mom to, and by the end, you'll appreciate her so much more for all the work that she puts (and has put) in to raising you (even though she may seem crazy doing it)! Go see the show, and take your mom! It's a good early/late Mother's Day present!
