Photography assignment: Portraiture and Still Life In June 2017, my Australian Shepherd, Loki became inexplicably unwell. On the 15th August, he was diagnosed with lymphoma. Two weeks later he was put to sleep. A piece of me was lost on that day. Of him I have memories. Photographs. The photos of him in this series were taken the day before he died. Remember them, treasure them and their memories; their time with us is deep but fleeting. Into Memory: Pieces of Me is a series documenting my pets before they are gone. My animals are a huge part of my life; they are a part of me. Their loss is felt keenly. Photographs preserve their memory, retain their image long after they have left us; of moments, details, objects. This series explores memory, loss, celebration and connection.
