“ he tried to kill me, so i killed him.”
“Mhm. By turning him into a kebab,” Victor nodded his head while admiring the impaled man. “Quite artfully done, might I add.”

The head, neck, and face are very, very vascular. So it’s a lot of blood.
Barnes gave her a blank stare, as if expecting her to continue explaining what was actually going on. When she didn’t, he gave her a slight but confused shake of his head.
“That still doesn’t explain what the fuck you were doing taking a shower in somebody’s arterial spray.”
“ what did you just say? “
Holly let out a frustrated huff, wincing at the ache in her throat. It was hard to say which was more difficult or painful; talking or swallowing. The swelling in her tongue and lips had gone down at least but her voice remained weak and hoarse.
“...asked —” she began in barely a hoarse whisper, “—you seen my friend. Dark hair, got a hat on prob’ly...”
“You looking for trouble?“
“Uh.. no,” Sam replied while slowly scanning the room. “Well, actually, I guess I am,” she quickly corrected herself with a snort, then looked down at Romero. “I’m looking for my sister. Same thing, isn’t it? She was supposed to meet me here.”
“You haven’t seen her, have you? She basically looks like me, just angrier.”
“It was me against the world, and the world had it coming.”
Grant, who was too busy keeping an eye on that minigun, seemed not to hear her speak, and kept a polite, respectful distance.
Starling on the other hand, looked impressed, though also a little wary. She smiled, and gestured at the gun, “Well, with something like that I wager you could show the world what’s what without much trouble.”
“If my dog was as ugly as you, I’d shave his ass and teach him to walk backwards.”
Grant gave a snort of amusement at Romero’s comment, though his features remained hard, and he never took his eyes off the man before them, “’Fraid I'm cut from a different cloth. I reckon I’d have to put the sorry mongrel out of his misery. Wouldn’t be able to live with myself if I let an animal go on sufferin’ like that.”
“That’s a great fifth option. Let’s work on the first four.”
Clary furrowed her brows and let out a frustrated huff as she threw her hands out slightly. “If you are just going to blow me off, why did you bother with asking for my help?”
“It was just me and a thousand guinea pigs. They turned… carnivorous.”
Slim blinked.
Not only could he not conceive of a thousand of anything, but the name meant absolutely nothing to him. They’d had pigs in Charlotte of course, and he’d seen them in various settlements after leaving. Whites, Durocs, Hampshires, Yorkshires, Mulefoots, and Saddlebacks....but he’d never heard any of them called that before.
“What’s a guinea pig?” he repeated the name slowly, “Are they big?”
