10 COMMON FASHION MISTAKES WOMEN MAKE.
Clothing speaks volumes about your personality and taste. Wearing a fashionable outfit makes you stand out from the crowd and also makes a statement about you and who you are.
Looking back at some of my photos from years back, I found myself cringing at some of the fashion mistakes I made; actually, it was quite funny but I'm grateful that my fashion sense has evolved and has become more mature...it's actually a Work in Progress. Like I'll always say, NOBODY IS PERFECT especially in fashion; with that in mind, I decided to reveal the top 10 FASHION MISTAKES WOMEN MAKE and their possible Solutions.
1. NOT DRESSING FOR THE OCCASION: Always know the environment and dress accordingly. The worst thing is to be over-dressed or under-dressed for an occasion. Always inquire about the dress code prior to the event so you can prepare for it. You'd feel awkward if you're over-dressed or under-dressed.
2. DRESSING TO IMPRESS PEOPLE: I watched a TV program years back where some women were asked why they dress a certain way and 90% of the women said 'it's a technique to keep their men whether they are comfortable or not'; this reason didn't go down well with me but unfortunately a lot of women ( including Me) are guilty of this or as at one time done this. It is crucial to understand that we ought to dress for ourselves, we should not focus our mindset on trying to please someone or pretend to be someone we are not. We dress to feel confident and to enjoy the art of fashion. Opt for something you're comfortable in and walk with your head high and always remember..." COMFORT is the new FASHION!"
3. TOO MANY ACCESSORIES: There are different types of accessories for different occasions. Too much accessories can destroy your entire look and make you look disorganized. Opt for minimal accessories that suit your outfit.
4. WEARING THE WRONG TYPE OF UNDER-GARMENT: Another fashion mistake women make is not choosing the right under-garment for a particular outfit. When wearing tight fitting clothes avoid boy-shorts or Lacy panties that causes clothes to cling to you or cause obvious under-wear lines.
5. CHOOSING OUTFITS THAT DON'T FIT YOUR BODY TYPE: A certain outfit might look great on a mannequin or in an Instagram post but not look good on you; we all have different body types and certain styles are not cut to suit our body shape. In choosing outfits that will flatter your body type, there are 3 main elements you should pay close attention to: (I). The waist line. (II). The length. (III). The neckline.
6. NOT INVESTING IN YOUR CLOTHES: We've heard time and time again to invest in ourselves and this should include our Wardrobes. One of the mistakes most women make, is not understanding the value of buying good clothes. You don't need to spend hundred of thousands of dollars on extremely expensive clothes just to look great. However, it is important to invest in clothes that flatters your body type.
7. WEARING LEGGINGS AS A CASUAL PANT: Leggings are not pants; they are meant to be worn to workout or as an in-house outfit. If you love black leggings because it's black and it literally matches every colour, kindly opt for some black jeans that are comfortable and wear those instead.
8. WEARING CLOTHES THAT DON'T FIT: Wearing clothes smaller than your original size makes you look smaller. Wear your size, own your body and you'll look more beautiful and decent.
9. SHOWING TOO MUCH SKIN: Some women believe showing too much skin is 'SEXY and ATTRACTIVE' but this is a fashion misconception and mistake and it is not appropriate in certain places like a corporate environment. Showing less skin is more decent and helps to reduce unnecessary attention and distraction but if you must show some skin at all, I suggest "The Rule of ONE" meaning, pick one spot on your body to show some skin and then cover up the rest; this way, you'd look tastefully Sexy like no other!.
10. NOT EVOLVING: Fashion is vast. Certain fashion styles trend for sometime, go out of fashion and come back to trend again. Some ladies however, get comfortable in a particular fashion trend and forget to evolve. It is essential to be able to maintain your Fashion comfort zone and still be flexible enough to accommodate and apply modern fashion twist and progression. As much as possible, avoid hairstyles and dress styles that are out of fashion; flow with modern fashion trends that suit your personal style.
BONUS POINT: FAILURE TO USE BODY SPRAY, ANTI-PERSPIRANT OR ROLL-ON: Everyone loves people that smells nice. Investing in a signature fragrance would go a long way in enhancing your fashion style.
Generally, ladies likes dressing for how they feel at a particular moment. However, we should be conscious that our clothing goes a long way in revealing who we are and try as much as possible to avoid these fashion mistakes and increase our overall fashion confidence!.

First week was not the most pleasant week due to another lockdown but its something that we expected to happen in this pandemic.
I realized that I have a hard time working from home even if I have a decent space to do artworks with. My brain associate my flat as just a resting place in general. I’ve been trying to make my ideas into tangible art but none of it is working. I’ve been having some terrible hay fever as well and thats definitely not helping.
This piece though is a glimpse of different things I want to make this year; abstract, landscape, geometry, lines, neutral to earth tone, minimal, layering, and so on.
Despite the lack of making work during the first week. Im constantly searching through reading, listening, and seeing art that is around what I want to do in my art practice this year.
