Ariel - Aki Kaurismaki (1988)

The film tells the story of Taisto Kasurinen (Turo Pajala), a Finnish coal miner who must find a way to live in the big city after the mine closes.

This films is so quiet, I love it. It, like it's main character, just drifts along in quiet acceptance. A dead-pan but also sort of dead serious, reminder that our paths and successes in life are as much about luck as it they are effort, and who knows what random occurences will lead us to our end, or beginning or middle; it's just random, and that's life.
