As I said, unpopular opinion. I completely disagree that people would not care about them if they never did Zen Arcade, by that point they were a pretty big deal in the HC community and DIY punk scene. They would have just taken a different trajectory and people would view them through a different lens. Because Zen Arcade is so great (along with what came after) people forget what a great HC band they were, which is a shame in my opinion.
My friend who was in Rifle Sport said he would see Husker Du all the time in 81/82 and were the most terrifying band he has ever seen live. I believe that.
BTW all the records you listed are fantastic.
