Here's a strange little project. My little collection of rebels for SW Legion has just about reached the point where one rank of little guys in the back of the cabinet was beginning to be obscured by other ranks of little guys in front. So, I decided to make the peeps in back a little raised area to stand on. I am aware you can buy little plastic pedestals for this exact purpose, but I like making trouble for myself.

Eagle-eyed readers will have already spotted that the bulk of this refuelling installation is based on a Pringles tube (salt & vinegar flavour, naturally), with large plasticard platforms glued on top. The guardrails are made of florists' wire with little plasticard tube sections as joints, while the smaller hinge pipe sections on the ends and above the terminal are actual plumbing bits what I bought off ebay for very little money.

The cabinet interior never photographs well, but I'm very happy with my new display, and thrilled to have gotten this very large model built & painted & out of the way within a month.

Yeah, I know that FFG have a Mining Guild TIE Fighter, but I thought I would try to do my own one from a Micromachines. I know the FFG one is infinitely better of course, but doing my own one didn't cost $35 either.

I used a lot of fast, tactile techniques to paint this thing in a deliberately quick & dirty fashion - lots of sponges, stippling, drybrushing & splotchy mediums. I figure this thing was probably built by indentured labour & maintained by droids - it's not going to look pristine & pretty. I also, to be quite honest with you, just wanted to get it done quickly so it didn't sit around gathering dust! And I think it serves its purpose quite well.
