why minjoon works (otp/brotp)
this was not what i intended to write for minjoon, but i saw that new teen vogue bts interview and i just needed to word vomit. here’s a mash of minjoon thoughts in essay form –– shoutout to mini moni anon <3 tysm for requesting something from the sloth of the century:
in comparison to the other members, i feel like jimin in particular can be extra attentive to namjoon’s darker, more vulnerable side. this interview is a good example of jm’s sensitivity: the first question asks the members what kind of person they think nj is, and yg/jk/jin give kind of general, lighthearted answers (which ofc, may also just speak to their interviewing style). jimin’s answer, however, is rather serious: “in fact, [namjoon] gets hurt easily.” this interview was conducted in 2013, debut era; despite having known jimin for the shortest time among the members, namjoon mentions later on in this same interview that he considers jimin a confidante among the younger members. they clearly meshed early on.
(partial tangent: in his individual interview for the same magazine, jimin is asked to compare the members to non-humans – side note, most of the members included humans in their lists?? idk if it was a communication error or what but LOL. anyway i find jm’s answers really interesting in general bc they’re so metaphorical, but in regards to minjoon, his answer for nj once again seems deeper + more serious in comparison: “a lion that even if you catch it, it breaks everything and escapes again.” imo under that familiar ‘god of destruction’ joke is something like admiration for nj’s inner strength as a person. to me, it’s another sign of jimin being quite in-tune with nj’s inner self!)
i think nj has also said on multiple occasions that he and jimin are quite similar – here’s an example of nj saying he and jimin share the most in common, thoughts, feelings & personality-wise, and this is so! interesting! because nj is very much an introspective/sentimental being and jm strikes me more as someone who dwells less and mostly lives in the moment. yet i guess that may be why they work well together? nj is also someone who seeks answers, and jimin, as someone who actively, often physically, works towards achieving satisfaction must help pull nj out of his internal cloud from time to time. that nj said jimin sometimes feels like he’s 10 years older is really eye-opening for me; i remember i said in another analysis that jm would benefit from someone who can help lift his insecurities, but i think his ability to simply work hard to improve can be inspiring for someone like nj – someone also critical and insecure about himself, but who mostly deals with those issues through thinking and likely overthinking.
on a lighter note, jimin is extra mischievous/playful with hyung-ln – he’ll purposely act up (i.e. be cute) and then run away, and he seems to do this a lot with nj, maybe because nj’s the leader and has to wear the eloquent, ‘leader’ persona, and jimin loves to challenge it? (and because i’m sure jimin is aware of how cute nj thinks he is, it’s a soft spot that jm takes full advantage of) i also think it could be jimin subtly giving namjoon a supporting nudge, like “remember me? you’re not alone” – especially since namjoon being emotional always seems to get jimin emotional too (just one ex.) .... idk maybe i’m just a cheeseball ;;;;
at any rate i believe this thesis is ready to be submitted for review, so i’ll be off /
