What was Yellow and Mink's deal?

OHHHH man. basically:

Minkclaw used to be friends with a lot of cats when she was younger including cross-clan cats. While Yellowstar (Yellowtail at the time) was never like, close friends with her, they were still buddies growing up and on alright terms. Yellowtail actually admired Minkclaw a lot for who she was and viewed her as a perfect RiverClan warrior -- eventually that admiration turned into an infatuation which turned into a whole different mess. Yellowtail was very traditionalist and didn’t support cross-clan romances at all so her infatuation with Minkclaw turned into something like a hate-fueled obsession. It got even worse when they stopped being friends because Minkclaw started to disapprove of Yellowtail’s actions and even got into fights/arguments with her at gatherings/border, especially when the incident with Rosepaw happened. When she became Yellowstar as a leader, her obsession remained and eventually she rationalized it by the idea of forcing Minkclaw to join WindClan and be hers (again, very possessive, reflecting the differences in the ways Yellowstar treated Minkclaw versus how Blackcloud treated her as an equal and a partner). Just weird self-inflicted code turmoil on Yellowstar’s part. Minkclaw just straight up hated her after how she treated Roseface.

Alsooo did hornet and mink end up together? Wait, were they together already??? Am I a big idiot??

NAH youre not dont worry! Hornetflower and Minkclaw weren’t romantic with each other, actually, they were just very very close friends! They were essentially best friends, and when Minkclaw became Minkstar, she actually appointed Hornetflower as her deputy. They were just really close and comfortable friends with each other, which is why they were so cuddly/affectionate with one another :]

Minkstar actually ends up romantically with Blackcloud by the epilogue! Wives :] Hornetflower didn’t get a romantic partner by the end of the comic itself, but I do like to think after the comic’s timeline she settled down with a molly (there were a few routes/options i had for her that just never fleshed out since romance wasn’t a heavy/big part or focus of hornetflowers storyline)
