A #zebrashark “poses” next to his ID sign in the Tropical Reef tank at the Minnesota Zoo. Zebra sharks are actually only striped as babies - as juveniles grow into adulthood, the stripes fade out to spots. A young #komododragon at the #minnesotazoo lounges on top of a log in the heat of the tropical building. As juveniles, Komodo dragons are surprisingly frequently climbers, immediately seeking out high ground after hatching to avoid predation by older, larger #dragons. As they grow to full adult size, they stop climbing as frequently; but don’t let appearances fool you! The beautiful #grizzlybear exhibit at the #minnesotazoo immerses guests in the wilderness of the #siberian coast, complete with steam vents and #geysers. Just before I visited, the zookeepers had brought an #africancrestedporcupine to visit while the bears were behind the scenes to add a special type of scent #enrichment for #playday - in this photo, one of the males is snuffling along the scent trail it left!
