You know what, I actually have no idea where it comes from. I mean, I think it’s just a silly nickname someone gave Bucky at some point (I feel like I remember @ohcaptainmycaptain1918 doing this at some point), but other than that, I don’t know of any origin of it.
That said, it wouldn’t surprise me if it WAS just a nickname. I mean, I tag them as ‘steebs and buck rogers’ (AWA ‘dorito and his little burrito’ and ‘captain obvious and sergeant sarcastic’). I could totally see it that way.

Steve and Bucky based on Planet Hulk #4. And fiiiiiiiine, it’s not confirmed canon, but anything else would be queer-bating. Even the writer of the comic has jumped in on the dialogue on his Twitter.
