I'm stuck on the couch cause of a very warm cat. She does not want me to move help
Gonna yap about the cats names cause they are important to me and I have 10+ designs at this point
What I like about the Vimalion designs is how distinct each one is with a clear motif, but also strong drawability. I wanted each cat to be as distinct, but simple by referencing certain features like hair shape, the color/shape of their clothes, etc. Naming depended on their final design, website description, a headcanon, or cause it was funny
Shrikesong: The loggerhead shrike is a North American songbird, more infamously known as the butcher bird for its feeding habits, which is fitting for Yi Xi's butcher motif
Quietheart: Deadheart felt too on the nose for a cadaver so Quiet- was used instead. Works better to match his quiet/deadpan personality too
Lemonsnap: Wasn't sure if Eri's other motif is either soda or pink lemonade, but the closest suffix to carbonation is -snap which feels more like popping?
Ripplepelt: One of the hardest to design since blue is his main color and I was trying to keep the colors realistic (which would quickly change), but it clicked when I could translate the design on his coat into tabby stripes, and his name would match the ripples on his pelt
Appleear: Cat that is definitely not a bunny in disguise. But with an apple motif and being all ears, Appleear was the most fitting for Mai
Swiftfeather: Closest I could get to describing an arrow since she's an archer, also matches the description of her personality
Silverwhisper: Perfect for a silver-haired beckoner, whose whispers you'd hear as the wind blows through the trees
Sweetfur: Matches both her seemingly sweet and demure personality and the pink and blue patches of fur, which remind me of cotton candy
Sproutkit + Flutterkit: Only two who will have -kit being children. Sprout fits for Lin Lai's motif, but for Yun Quan "butterfly" felt too long of a name and "moth" was reserved for another cat, so the closest I could get was flutter since butterflies flutter
Duskfang: Bloodfang also felt to on the nose, so Dusk- was put for vampiric vibes instead. Also one of my personal favorite designs
Lightwing: Closest to describing fairy wings, though it may change since Light- feels better fitting to another cat (who hasn't been designed yet)
Mothhawk: Moth for her moth submotif. She is described as being a strict teacher, but I couldn't find a suffix that was exactly "strict". The closest I could get was with "hawk" since they are sharp/keen-eyed, but I may change it later if I find something better
Softpetal: Soft- to match Wei Shu's soft-hearted demeanor and -petal for his motif and the flower shaped bun in his hair
Kevin: Kevin
But in all seriousness, it was hard to find a name that fit the steampunk motif and also match the design, so I left it as Kevin cause it was funnier that way. Though I imagine he was a kittypet that wandered into the woods and joined the clan, but decided to not change his name. I think there's a cat in Warriors canon that does this, but I don't remember atm
