Copper highlights

Whether it's the real (metal) deal, a hue, pigment or sheen.. simply a copper-esque glint will always catch my eye. With the London Design Festival in full swing, my copper love has been fully indulged with a whole host of products utilising the beautiful reddish-brown-rose material.
Certainly not a new trend in interiors but designers seem to be running with it and most interestingly combining it with other materials such as glass, concrete (another love), metal, formica and wood (amongst others).

The contrasting tactile qualities of these differing materials make the greatest impact one me. But perhaps that's the Textile Designer in me that always longed to be working in Ceramics (but lacking in any patience to actually create.)
The pictures are all from my wanderings around Mint Shop, Design Junction, Tent London and 100% Design over the past couple of days.

I didn't set off to hunt out my favourite colour, the theme just sort of emerged as I was flicking through my photos. A magpie to the metal it appears.
Partial also to the verdigris patina that over time the 'real' stuff oxidises to. Tiffany got it right with their iconic packaging and it looks like the new Monologue shop is liking the classic duo of colours too.
And just to prove I'm not harping on about a colour that appears to be 'in' at the moment. My wedding day (6 years ago now) had a Copper theme. These little details were important to me (not sure if the guests picked up on it) and so prior to the Big day, my future Portuguese in-laws were drafted in to crochet the edges of 20 tablecloths which were later screenprinted with copper (goes without saying) polka dots by my super talented friend Lisa Levis (Stickley). And FYI, the wedding invites all had a stamped wax copper seal.
Even my Chanel shoes were working the hue too (note the copper hooks aswell). So in my defence, I've been living with and wearing my addiction for quite some time (I won't bore you with snaps of my jewellery, general tat round the house which fits into this category..)
And it's not just me who's partial to some metallic footwear in our household too - mine and theirs' footwear below.
