The master classes I gave in Dresden ended today. The boys worked with extreme enthusiasm among them, I got Marco and Aaron from our "Vaganova Ballet Academy" back "in my hands" . Despite having worked together for only two weeks, I saw them with tears in their eyes when we said goodbye ... some even with crying spells. I am very pleased that I left a vivid memory of a busy job in them. Good job and good luck guys!!! I hope to work with you again)))

Vaganova Ballet Academy held an open class yesterday in memory of the great ballet teacher Alexander Pushkin. The class was taken by Nikolai Tsiskaridze’s and Fethon Miozzi’s students. 

Nikolai Tsiskaridze oversaw the reconstruction of Pushkin’s classical dance lesson, which was accomplished by scrupulously studying Pushkin’s notes, video recordings of Pushkin’s class, as well as from Gennady Albert’s (Pushkin’s student) memories.

Alexander Pushkin was born in 1907. He started studying ballet in Nikolai Legat’s school before transferring to Leningrad School of Choreography (now Vaganova Ballet Academy). He graduate in 1925 and dance with the Kirov (Mariinsky) from 1925 till his retirement in 1953.

Pushkin was a wonderful danseur and performed a wide repertoire. He was also an exceptional teacher and had taught both at the theatre and the academy. His students included Rudolf Nureyev and Mikhail Baryshnikov.
