It was a new day for the world, the first of many with the Calamity Ganon vanquished. The Chosen Knight, the Hero of Hyrule Link had deigned it would be poignant to watch the sun rise on this new dawn, standing high above the land, seeing the budding rays illuminate it all.
Where Link stood, specifically, was upon the stone trunk of Divine Beast Vah Ruta. It was strange-- though the great goliaths that were the Divine Beasts were constructed long ago by the Shiekah, this Link knew, he could swear they were...alive, in their own right.
The Calamity was slain. Peace was restored, the people had hope again...and the Champions were gone. One would presume, their primary operation complete, that the Divine Beasts would return to dormancy.
Their postures had slackened again, but they remained active, occasionally filling the air with their distinctive cries. Indeed, they were no different in current status from one another, so Link really could have gone to any of them.
But no, he choose the great elephant Vah Ruta. For he and her both had lost one they had shared much of their life with. He from childhood, the colossus for a century.
Link stared off into the sunrise, giving a quiet sigh. Casting his gaze back over his shoulder, his eyes fell upon Zora’s Domain far below. There, he could see Sidon distinctively, watching the hero from afar. A tentative wave was given by Link, before he turned his attention back to the front. Kneeling down, he rested a hand upon Ruta’s trunk, giving a small rub over the smooth stone.
“You miss her, right? You and the others...” A bellowing trumpet was Link’s response, he himself nodding some glumly. “Me too, Ruta. Me too.”
