Since you’re already covered Sashannarcy. The second Poly ship potential you could look Up “Polytrix” from the recent Netflix movie Kpop Demon Hunters with Rumi x Zoey x Mira.
There’s even some people like myself who believe they remind them of Anne, Marcy and Sasha from Amphibia but their adults/timeskip version with some similarities (surface level at least).
ive never seen ship wars so rampant in years as i have with kpop demon hunters so im frightened but ill be damned if i dont review this yuri
let the record show that i watched this movie with an open mind and an open heart. i had seen TikTok edits of a wide array of ships and i had no clue where i would end up. i could still easily be swayed in any direction that the wind blows me since the movie didn't really go THAT in depth on the girls' relationship with one another but there is some crucial evidence that i believe in and will share with you today.
EVIDENCE 1 - Mira is VERY Jealous of Jinu
mira is the only member of huntrix that i feel was uninterested in the saja boys. so what she appreciates their abs?? doesn't matter if she hates who they're attached to! but you want to know what mira IS focused on in this scene? cause it aint the men surrounding her OR the fans that she clearly loves but RUMI talking with Jinu??? and then encouraging their fans to support him? some may say mira constantly bringing him up is just astonishment that rumi is so civil with a demon but i beg to say that she got some sort of wlw crush on rumi...
she herself claims she's really good at reading people which is why she almost asks rumi for reassurance about HER hating jinu cause she senses there's something else there between them and she is both defensive & awkward about it. this has to go a little bit beyond the whole 'we HATE demons' thing because zoey is not trying to hide the fact that she's fawning over the saja boys so the problem for mira is very specifically about RUMI and JINU. she's also probably the most aggressive towards jinu for a saja boy that doesn't really bother her at all.... thinking...thinking....123..... this scene also ends with her saying that she thinks the demons are just getting to her and that's why she's so confrontational towards rumi and she can't wait for them to all be gone and for her to have time to pursue a lesbian relationship with both of her band members...
there's also the train scene where mira outright says shut up about the song, i know that's not the real reason why you're acting like this. she knows rumi is hiding something but there's no way she can possibly know that she's a demon (if she even has the slightest idea it isn't a conscious thought) so what she really is this mad about is the possibility that rumi likes jinu and rumi tells her that not everything's about her insecurities!! what are mira's biggest insecurities.. something something being unlovable/ being seen as too much (calls herself a difficult person) so her biggest fear here IS abandonment in some way and that's really effed up (the getting hypnotised by the saja boys scene reinforces this)
EVIDENCE 2 - In DEFENSE of Mira & Zoey
i have gotten a bad reputation from my sashannarcy yuri review of being strict and brutal with my yuri reviews and if you've read that you would probably expect me to remove some points from polytrix for some final scenes... but i will NOT! no one is to blame in the scene where mira and zoey hold rumi at gunpoint... they weren't suddenly motivated to kill rumi dead in that instance... LOOK at them. they were upset, they didn't know what was true or fake cause their entire world was just turned upside down. in no world were they going to hurt rumi. them holding up their weapons was just what they felt like they HAD to do but didn't WANT to.... also while we're at it
since this scene occurs almost immediately after some may come to the conclusion that rumi was that hurt solely by what zoey and mira did which is just the beginning of it!!! this is about everything in rumi's life leading up to this and her feeling like as a demon she needs to be ashamed of herself and won't ever be truly accepted.. this ship isn't toxic and it ain't even that codependent btw...
universally i feel like zoey is strong evidence towards polytrix but no one really has the words to say so. no way is she straight.. she seems in love with everyone at all times. she's just a girl with a big heart and that obviously extends to her girls in huntrix!
first of all she writes ALL of huntrix's songs but sings very very little and writes parts for rumi and mira... the songs DONT WORK unless they're ALL there and this is all part of zoey's plans.. also mira choreographs and made it so there's a part in golden where her and zoey outright leave the stage to let rumi have her moment. these girls love eachother. that's undeniable. the question is just if it's romantic or not.
she also never argues with mira or rumi even with the arguments over the saja boys and everything are going on. she doesn't want to pick sides cause she can't handle losing either of them. zoey is the glue holding this band together and she also wants to go the bathhouse with them rn if that's alright with everyone
EVIDENCE 4 - Rumi's Story is an Allegory For Coming Out
YEAH the director said "we used to always compare it, as like, rumi's story as like, she's coming out of the closet. coming to her parent, who is like wanting her to be something that she is not." and i know an allegory is very different from the story itself BUT it makes sense. we don't have a lot of evidence from rumi on polytrix because the whole movie when the girls don't know the truth about her she is distant from them. almost like she's keeping her distance from them. almost like there are things she doesn't want to admit. like the honmoon turning gold and making her not a demon anymore is like her waiting for her feelings to subside but AFTER mira and zoey find out and after the initial shock they are way closer than we've seen them.. and I KNOW she liked jinu but she could be bi.
there is not a whole hell of a lot yuri evidence for these three but the little that there is, IS very convincing. i dare to say i convinced myself over the course of this review that they are canon because when i initially watched this movie i wasn't really seeing it and i think that IS because we see it from rumi's point of view and she is distanced from the girls cause she's ashamed of herself and everything. this yuri has a lot of room to grow from here in the scenario that it does branch off into a franchise or something.
they also ARE very sashannarcy coded. i thought that when i watched the movie and as i've already admitted i haven't even seen amphibia.
