I’m a west/central asian jew! It’s something I don’t talk about often due to my own personal reasons — but yeah! I like to make characters / oc’s that would be something I wish I saw growing up to make sense of my identity and ethnicity and sense of self!

native English-speaking Jew here, and in English-accented Hebrew, the 'Ba' is not a long 'Bah' like in 'father' but short like 'bat'. I don't know if you pronounce 'father' differently to me, but hmm, I'm pretty sure my pronunciation of baruch is standard in my community?

Totally possible. My main connection with pronouncing Baruch -- as a name (so besides prayers) -- is being vaguely close to adjacent to charedi/yeshivish culture, and specifically mentally converting this cassette tape -- Boruch Learns His Brochos -- from a yeshivish accent into my standard American accent.

Where does the stress fall? First or second syllable? Or?

Hello! I have managed to wean myself from (at least posting on) this website for the past few months (precisely half a year!), so you may have forgotten me. If you do remember me it might be as the one who made that Leviathan post, or who just really liked demons/angels/anything Trachtenberg ever wrote. (If this is in fact how you remember me I would be overjoyed.)

Recently I have been discovering a lot of beautiful, heartwarming, delightful, wholesome demon tales in the Talmud and it occurred to me that some of you might be interested in hearing them. But I don’t want to take the time to collect them here unless there is actual interest. (I’m planning to write a big paper on demons in Judaism this coming year, so I’ll be doing the research anyway; the only extra effort I’d be putting in would be copying and pasting.) If you would be excited to see these stories, please like this post or tell me so that I can get an idea.

my excellent host for the second two days of yom tov, @mirrific, has a really cute family omer custom where, at or after the appropriate time to count the omer, someone checks their watch, realises, and just yells OMER

and then everyone stops what they’re doing, stands wherever they are in the house in the middle of whatever activity they’re in, and they all say the bracha and count the omer in unison

bc of this (i assume), she posts OMER in allcaps at or after the appropriate time on our group chat
