Hang a curtain rod over the mirror and hang a valance light fitting for a romantic effect mirror craft bathroom, or use heavier fabric in a deep color for a dramatic look. Etch the mirror. You need clear contact paper, craft knife, etching cream and a brush. Choose a pattern on the contact paper and cut with a cutter. Peel and stick this template in the mirror. Great Craft Idea for a Snow Day with a Child/Teen (or just yourself!)
Start with a cheap mirror. I bought this one at Walmart for a few dollars. The frame is white plastic.
With the help of a glue gun, a small bottle of craft glue and a jar of stones, seashells etc., you can transform the mirror into a beautiful one. We used seashells we had in a jar for a few years from our trip to the Outer Banks in North Carolina.
This now hangs in our guest room.
I get in these moods where I like to make things or redo things. I thought I'd post a few of my projects here.
This started out as a very, very basic full-length mirror, with a cheap 1-inch fake-wood frame. I hated the way it looked, and in fact, it was hidden for a long time. After I did a little research and asked a couple of friends for ideas, this is what I came up with.
I painted the fake-wood frame silver, then used glass tiles to frame the inside of the mirror itself. I added the quote and flipped the direction of the mirror, because I plan to hang it surrounded by pictures of my family, and thought the quote fit. But, I did it on gray paper so I can just paint over the letters and cut the paper down if it starts looking too battered. I used brown grout, I thought it looked better than the standard white or any other color would have.
I haven't hung it up yet because I have to find something strong to hold it, using glass tiles made it pretty heavy. But I love how it turned out, it is much nicer than what I started with!

This is a pretty DIY that you could make a set of - with different types of silhouette mirrors. And it's so easy too. Just cut the image out of contact paper, then spray with your choice of spray paint (this one is called Bazooka Joe! Now all I can think of is having a piece of Bazooka Joe. Dammit) Or you could use different shapes like stars, hearts or polka dots.
