I finally drew a quick one of Cure Flip in his precure outfit. Yes, he’s very normal compared to most precures... that’s the point. Lol. Skater boy ain’t got time for frills and bows, they get in the way of his sick moves.

Anyway, maybe I’ll draw cure Twirl next. She’s a bit more... precure styled... than him.

Riding on Courage, Cure Flip!

I finally finished this asshole. Hooray.

Anyway, meet the most casual precure ever. Cure Flip, precure of strength and courage. He represents chasing after what you want to be and the steadfast belief you can do it.

He's also a skate punk who masquerades as a student council president, but that's a story for another day. You can just call him Flip or Dai for short.

Also, Dai has a song in his playlist now. It's Ego Renegade Boy because it is so perfect for him when he's officially so fucking done and just comes out.

Like lead a lie or watch your daughter die... shit.

I was thinking, and I think I want Flip and Dai to have different voices. Flip is cis, after all, so he's definitely going through puberty. His voice probably cracks a little or is just starting to settle. It's at the very least a lot deeper than Dai's.

Dai is pre-T and 14. He does his best to pitch down.

I want them to sound different. I want Dai to feel envy over Flip's voice and worry he's not going to sound like that one day.

Oh boy why do I suddenly see a movie subplot where Flip and Dai have to work together and realize they're the same person lol.

Watching this makes me glad i gave my precure anxieties and fears because that's just fucking part of being human.

Like, Daisuke fears growing up even further because his body is wrong. He worries his society won't accept him and he'll eventually have to leave to be happy. Sara has the same fear, coupled with coming from a highly traditional family and being poised to take over the family's kendo style. These fears are part of them, and inform their decisions.

Without them, they wouldn't be them.

Akane and Daisuke are two very different people and it's honestly kind of funny considering the truth of the matter.

Akane is serious and subdued, even-tempered and never raises her voice. She's all pigtails and long skirts and doesn't come off as anything but an awkward, somewhat unfashionable teenage girl who loves reading and isn't one for doing much else.

Then there's Daisuke. The hot-blooded, ever-eager skater boy who plunges head first into the bowl before anyone else even thinks about it. He's got a temper and refuses to back down to bullies or cowards who try to mess with the younger kids. King of the hoodie and cargo shorts combo, along with his trusty vans.

They're complete opposites, and yet it's the same guy just at different points of the week. Dai isn't really sure which one is the 'real' him. Is he Akane pretending to be a skater boy so he fits in at the park, or is he Daisuke cooling down so nobody asks questions at school? He struggles to know the answer, and that's going to be one of his big conflicts in the season as he figures out who he really is.

Kagami Middle School Student Council

President - Suzuki Akane, 2nd year. A serious, highly disciplined girl who gives her all to making the school a better place. Comes early, stays late, and can usually be found in the student council office outside of class. A top student (except where gym and home ec are concerned), her goal is a scholarship at the illustrious Seiza Academy and to eventually study abroad.

Vice President - Kobayashi Jun, 2nd year. A quiet, sensitive boy who enjoys nature and tending to plants. Splits his time between the student council and the gardening club. Akane's childhood best friend, he ran as her VP to be a balance between her ambition and his calm nature. No goals for high school as of yet, but his talent with plants suggests a future in botany or the natural sciences.

Treasurer - Kaito Kazuki, 3rd year. An extroverted, highly athletic boy who stars as the ace on the school's tennis team. Very popular in the school, which was why he was selected as the treasurer. His goal is to reach nationals before the end of his third year, a dream that seems possible this year with the rest of the tennis team. Due to this, he is somewhat... behind... on his student council work. But at least he's a nice guy? High school goals are whoever gives him a sports recommendation.

Secretary - Sato Hanako, 3rd year. A friendly, cheerful girl who loves to sing and is part of the school's choir. She's a stickler for details and notes, which is why she was a natural choice to be the student council's secretary. Not the best with technology, but she tries her best and knows when to call in the pros. Range is second soprano, and her favorite musical this year is Wicked. Her high school goal is a nearby all girl's school with a particularly difficult choir audition.

Together, these four are the Kagami Middle Student Council. Fight on, kids... and maybe don't notice when your president starts disappearing whenever weird shit pops off near school.

This is why there are no school joining episodes in my precure. Rei/Cure Step is a high school first year, so they won't be joining Daisuke and Sara in their middle school class.

Rather, Dai's trying to get into their school on an academic scholarship in two years and Sara is trying to do the same on a sports recommendation. Since that won't happen until their third year and the show takes place over their second year, we don't have to worry about it.

We do have to worry about Dai's friends and his treasurer on the student council getting into good high schools, though. His friends (just Nakamoto and Takashi, first names are too lame) go to the bad kids' school, so they need all the help they can get on their entrance exams. And treasurer-san (Kaito Kazuki, usually just Kaito-senpai or Kaito-the-pain-in-my-ass-who-needs-to-do-his-own-damn-work-or-I'm-gonna-shove-that-racket-up-his-ass if you ask Dai) is the school's tennis ace (tennis ass if you ask Dai when he's not being the student council president) so... we'll see.

Anyway, I have put way too much thought and have way too many characters for a series that will never see the light of day, lol.
