“...When did you ever plan to tell me, Amaterasu?” It’s not a hidden threat, no accusations are being made... If anything, the Great God actually sounds a little hurt that his daughter ran off into marriage with a mortal and he hadn’t even gotten a word of say in it.
He’ll admit it to himself, at least; he hasn’t been the best father. Not to Amaterasu, not to her brothers. Still, it’s a blow that stings regardless, as he would’ve liked to think his own daughter, a being created from him, would’ve told him about her engagement...or outright marriage. (Mortal or not aside; she may be his daughter and he the commanding force over all, but he’s not about to voice his judgments to her face... Not yet, if she’s unlucky.)

In Disney verse, Esme’s style is basically fighting tooth and nail, using her strength and agility and whatever she can get her hands on to help her.
In the movie, there are a few scenes which show how she fights. In her first scene, when the soldiers want to arrest her and her arms are restrained by one of them, she just leans back and kicks her legs up high at the other soldier and uses her weight to struggle and break herself free (though Djali helps her out in that one). In the chasing scene at the Festival of Fools and also the miller’s family scene, one can see that she can throw things with great precision (a soldier’s helmet to knock out three soldiers and a stone to hit the rear of Frollo’s horse). In her dual with Phoebus, she reaches out for the nearest thing, which is the candlestick stand, to go against his sword. One imagines that she is dextrous with the knife strapped on her calf under her skirt too.
Esme basically grew up in the open and there’s no specific discipline to her fighting. It’s a rough age, and she fights rough.
In modern verse, however, she does specifically learn some skills. When she was a child, her older brother, Clopin taught her how to fight dirty, in other words kicking boys between their legs. XD But after going to college and later Paris, Esme took the opportunity to attend classes like boxing and self defence.
Let’s just say, some people will attest to her throwing a mean punch.

Isaac is totally a Sohma in this AU, because the boy’s got to suffer. Mr. Affectionate and Love Hugs doesn’t get to dole them out to girls or POOF! he’s a rooster. Gotta get my zodiac some representation here. Isaac would totally agonize about being unable to hug anyone of the female gender that’s not a female Zodiac member, including his mom. Their relationship would be a bit strained as she too would feel horrible about being unable to hug or hold her beloved son.
I’m only familiar up to what has aired with the new anime (give or take a chapter from the Collector’s Edition manga, so I dunno how Akio or any big plots fit into Isaac’s story yet.))
