sUUUUPER LATE but it was in my drafts so! if you're still interested in writing meme questions! characterization and faulkner (~pinespittinink)
So I took a super long time to answer this, and yet my answers are super short because this could have been essays long, so I stopped myself—hope it was worth the wait <3
characterization: describe your favorite character(s) you’ve written.
Cillian; where do I even begin with my boy? He’s essentially a bottle of sunshine that someone threw on the floor to shatter—all dimples and scars and tattoos. He just tries so hard to be so damn soft all the time, despite his unchecked bitterness he has solely directed at himself, and not to mention that he’s just constantly falling apart in more ways than one, and he just won’t let anyone help him pick up the pieces. He can’t let them because he doesn’t want them to see how many pieces there really is, and he doesn’t want to forget how to put himself back together when they leave. But soft isn’t the only way he holds himself, because he’s flirtatious and he’s smart and he’s quick, and so he’s constantly moving, smoothly adapting, always ready with an answer, and so you don’t quite notice the tension always keeping his body stiff, you don’t quite pick up on the limp in his gait, you don’t quite realize how well he’s playing the game because you wouldn’t think he could smile like that if he was teetering off the ledge.
faulkner: what tropes do you LOVE writing? which ones are your guilty pleasure?
Okay, I honestly cannot for the life of me even narrow a list down of favorite tropes. I forget tropes and learn tropes and find out things are tropes and love them all to death. Some of the ones I tend to repeat and explore through their different aspects range from tropes like mama bear to handicapped badass and forced to watch. All those good, painful ones :)
