Do you still drink coffee? If so, what kind do you drink? How do you take it? I'm trying to get into coffee, but I don't know where to start.
That’s a really wide question. I guess all I can really do is tell you my preferences, but you’ll definitely have to explore and find what you like, especially if you’re just starting out. It’s kind of like tea - you have to find what beans you like, what flavors taste good, etc.
I like full-bodied coffee. My family tends to buy from Starbucks, as that’s the main coffee shop in our town. I love the Verona blend, because it’s dark and smooth. (We also just started to drink the Tribute blend, but I think that’s limited edition.) I’m not really fond of South American or African bean coffees - they taste too astringent for me. Their House blend is also nice, especially if you’re just starting out. If you don’t like dark roasts and even medium roasts are not making you happy, you might try a blonde roast? I don’t care for them at all, but as I said, I like my coffee dark.
I also love Gevalia coffee. In my experience it doesn’t have much bitterness to it, so any of their blends are nice.
I would ALSO suggest making your coffee in a coffee press. It’s a lot less bitter than drinking it from a drip machine. (I love, love, LOVE coffee press coffee. I keep meaning to buy a new one.) One of my besties didn’t like coffee until she started drinking it from a coffee press, and now she loves it.
I’d also say stay away from Folgers and Maxwell House, if you live in the States. But I’m a coffee snob. They’re cheap, but you get what you pay for. If you want good coffee, spend a little more for the nicer stuff at the store.
As far as HOW I take my coffee, usually just with vitamin D milk or half and half. I don’t really drink it with sweetener anymore since I weaned myself off.
