Comfort Shows

I was tagged by the ever lovely @negrowhat to share my comfort shows since we also did movies. So here we go...

1. A Korean Odyssey - still my favourite kdrama and I love everything about it

2. History 3: Trapped - from the opening notes I'm home. It's a show where I love everyone equally. Free Tang Yi!!!!

3. M*A*S*H - I grew up watching this on late night TV and I just love it so much.

4. How I Met Your Mother - look I hate the finale, and not all of it has aged well, but I still love it flaws and all (except the ending, that can burn in hell forever)

5. Star Trek Voyager - this is tough because I've watched DS9 just as much but I love this crew just a bit more. Plus it was there perfect combo of episode of the week with long overall arch.

6. Leverage - sometimes the bad guys are the good guys....

7. Old Fashion Cupcake - older queers finding love over waffles and baked goods??? How can you not love them and watch them on repeat? You can't.

8. Dimension 20 - I have watched so many of their campaigns over and over and I just really love getting to feel like I'm playing even if I'm not. (Someone please play DnD with me)

9. Bones - while I left before the series ended the first several seasons are just so comforting. I love the dynamics and friendships.

10. Warehouse 13 - this was such a hidden gem of a show. It has a bit of history, a bit of magic, and just a great time all around.

Last Song Tag

I was tagged by a new lovely @gillianthecat and they went with OST's so I thought I'd continue that because there are several that I listen to repeatedly, and it's a nice mix-up from what I normally share.

Getsunova - พระเอกจำลอง - OST Theory of Love

There are days when I literally just have this on repeat all day long. I love all the versions of it we get in the show and really wish I could get my hands on the slowed instrumental version.

BumKey (범키) - When I Saw You (화유기) - OST A Korean Odyssey

Part of the reason this show is one of my comfort shows is the OST. It is used so perfectly and it is just such a beautiful song. Sometimes I watch it just to hear the song and how it's used.

黃奕儒 Ezu - 我怎能留下你 - HIStory 3: Trapped OST

From the first notes of this OST I know I'm home and ready to be in my comfort zone. This also is a big comfort show. It's a show I never expected to even like, but I've lost track of how many times I've watched it and listened to the OST.

柏霖 PoLin - 蝴蝶 Butterfly - DNA Says Love You OST

Aside from the fact that this show was beautiful start to finish, it introduced me to a new artist - PoLin - and his music is just something so beautiful to experience. This song though specifically is just enchanting and I love it so so so much.

1. Are you named after anyone? Yes, I named myself after someone

2. When was the last time you cried? Last week watching a deep dive video on the Sewol Ferry Tragedy. It was truly heartbreaking.

3. Do you have kids? Do plant babies count? Because I have a ton of them. Plant Daddy dreams achieved!!!

4. Do you use sarcasm? Who me???? I NEVER XD

5. What sports do you play/have you played? Used to rollerblade and play tennis, and went hiking a lot growing up and am trying to get back into it now that I live in hikeable areas again.

6. What's the first thing you notice about other people? Eyes or smile usually.

7. What's your eye colour? Blue

8. Scary movies or happy endings? Happy endings usually. I'm very picky about my scary movie consumption because I don't like jump scares.

9. Any special talents? Injuring myself in the weirdest benign ways possible - does that count? Um I've been told I'm good at creating colour combo's and I can figure out colour mixtures pretty well after spending years having to colour match on old printers.

10. Where were you born? You Es of Eh

11. What are your hobbies? Currently - felting, diamond art, typography, colouring, writing.

12. Do you have any pets? not currently

13. How tall are you? 167cm/5'5"

14. Favourite subject in school? English, Theatre Appreciation, Typography

15. Dream job? Getting my degree in Linguistics and finding something that combines it with my Graphic Design degree - like universal signage or translating materials.

8 Shows To Get To Know Me

Dearest Krish (@i-got-the-feels) thank you so much for tagging me in this. I've seen this going around and it looks like fun. This was also more difficult than I thought.

화유기 (A Korean Odyssey)

This was my first full introduction to KDrama's and it sunk me heart and soul into the world. I love all the characters so much (and it got me into a new band in the process - go check out FT Island their lead singer is in this). Plus it started my love for Lee Seung Gi!

M*A*S*H

I cannot say where or why I started loving this show, but it's been a constant in my life for as long as I can remember. It seems weird to have a favourite show that's about a war - but I truly love this show and it's been with me most of my life.

나의 별에게 (To My Star)

Is it a surprise this show is on here? Nah I don't think so. This is a show that came out of no where and grabbed me by the throat and I have spent so much time with this show. I love it so much - so much that I'm still unable to watch the second season for fear of ruining the beauty of it. This was the show I did a deep dive and have watched every moment a thousand times. I love this show!

แปลรักฉันด้วยใจเธอ 1 & 2 (I Told Sunset About You/I Promised You The Moon)

Yeah these can't be separated. They tell a whole complicated beautiful story. This is art start to finish. The story isn't always pretty and is complicated in parts, but it's still wonderful.

美しい彼 シーズン 1 & 2 (Utsukushii Kare/My Beautiful Man)

Another show that came out of nowhere and just took over my life. The complexities and nuances of the characters continue to fascinate me and give me all the feels. Someday I may be able to move on, but I hope it won't be for a very long time.

Star Trek (Voyager & Deep Space 9)

While I've watched most of the older Star Trek stuff Voyager and DS9 were big parts of my teenage years. They will always have soft spots in my heart, and settled me wholly into Trekkie life.

너의시선이머무는곳에 (Where Your Eyes Linger)

This was my first introduction to BL - and especially Korean BL - so it was the tipping point of the rabbit hole that has consumed my life. Because of this Korean BL will always be special to me, and I'm happy to see it gaining traction. I personally love the short format and love the sweetness that is just intrinsically Korean within their stories.

永遠的第一名 / 第二名的逆襲 (We Best Love: No. 1 for You & Fighting Mr. 2nd)

Probably one of my favourite iterations of enemies to lovers. Shu Yi and Shi De are just so wonderful and the chemistry between Sam and Yu just elevated this story to a special level for me. I just really love this story and all the characters.

A few runners up that are special - HIStory 3: Trapped (comfort show), Love Sick (sweet nostalgia), SOTUS (my intro to Singto), My Engineer (got me my first ghost ship), 3 Will Be Free (my OG kids)

Wasted Nights - One OK Rock - a mutual (@morathicain) recently destroyed my life (affectionate) by getting me into them and this song hits so hard

Halazia - Ateez - I'm obsessed with YeoSang's deep parts in this song and thus listen to it repeatedly.

Stupid Cool - Dawn - This song keeps getting stuck in my head. It's super catchy and just a lot of fun.

Matsuri - Fujii Kaze - This man has been a big part of my listening history of late. He's just got this beautiful vibe and just really nice to listen to.

Heartache - One OK Rock - okay normally I try not to repeat artists, BUT see first comment - life destruction! This song (specifically this version) so many feels!
