When I first saw people shipping Noel and Mischa, I thought it was just pairing two random characters to be able to have a ship, not actually based on anything, because I’d only listened to the album. Then I watched the bootleg. My god. These bitches gay.

Not many people care about this show (yet! Give us the cast album! Give us the Seattle recording!) but I have thoughts nonetheless so here I am sharing my wisdom with all three of you

Ocean was really into Glee in middle school and got dedicated to the Jewish side of her family in part because she overidentified with Rachel Berry

Mischa is Jewish and is uh. Not happy about being stuck in a Catholic school. He still lights Shabbat candles every Friday night in his little basement room, but when his adoptive parents found the lighter he was using, they tried to take it away, assuming that he was using it to “light up some joints”. Little do they know that Mischa hasn’t been able to find a good dealer in Uranium yet. Anyway, he stole the lighter back. He likes having his own thing, and besides, Jewish tradition is one of the only connections he has to his mother

Ocean tries to connect with Mischa over being Jewish but she forgot literally everything after she stopped going to Hebrew school so it does not really work at all

Noel considers himself “above comedies”, especially sitcoms, but sometimes he’ll indulge in Schitt’s Creek, not because he finds it funny, but because he’s got a decently strong crush on Dan Levy

Obviously the race and ethnicity of a character is going to be different from actor to actor, but given that Constance’s family “has been in Uranium since they opened the mines”, Constance being Denesuline First Nations would definitely add an deeper dimension to her sense of self-perception and cultural identity and how she feels about her hometown

Mischa is bi. Ricky is bi. Constance is bi. Ocean is very, very heterosexual. (Just Noel’s luck that there are actually two other mlm his age in their tiny tiny town but one is engaged to a woman on another continent and the other has never mentioned it because he literally cannot speak. And then they all die.)

Also apparently in Legoland Penny gets called “lesbo” a lot and I’m always a fan of reclaiming characters like that for the lesbians. But also idk if it’s really supposed to be the same Penny Lamb from Uranium City or just a reused name? so uh I might need to read legoland or whatever but. You know what I don’t care. Lesbian cause why NOT we literally don’t know anything about her the entire show she can be gay if I say she’s gay

The last thing Tamara Bachinsky gave Mischa before he left for Canada was her Chernobyl Liquidators’ medal. He keeps it pinned through a link of the Magen David necklace he wears tucked into his shirtfront. It’s a little heavy to keep on a necklace, but he wants to keep it close to his heart anyway. This is the badge of a soldier, and his mother had paid with her life.

Listen. You know how Karnak says “My final piece of advice is—” and then dies? It’s stated in the show that Karnak can foretell the exact moment of his own death. Which means that either he was so desperate that in his last moments he was rushing to get the words out, but failed, or that he absolutely planned in advance for his own death to cut off his sentence, and it was literally just a dick move
