dare I say that the concept of “boundaries” as it’s used in mcyt spaces is indicative of the poor understanding of consent many of these ccs have or are we going to keep pretending it’s acceptable to outright threaten your audience with targeted harassment if they don’t conform to your rules

I keep seeing posts like “actually we can pin down the time period of vsmp because drift mentioned using a camera to take a picture so it has to be set after 1826 but they also mentioned the queen of england so it has to be before 1901” and like. guys. scott mentioned beyoncé within the first five minutes of episode 1. I don’t think we’re getting a coherent timeframe with this one

I will admit it’s been very vindicating seeing people criticise legundo for defending how pyro was threatening to stalk and harass his own fans, because I have disliked legundo ever since that one time he quote-retweeted a 15yo to call them an abuser (for the crime of saying it’s fine to write stuff that breaks ccs’ rules as long as the ccs don’t see it) and then, upon being informed that said teenager was receiving harassment and death threats as a result, doubled down by saying that hopefully this would serve as “an important life lesson.”

always very funny to me when someone says they’re staunchly anti-rpf and then incorporates paratext into their canon-based fanwork. pick a side!

anyway. not my relationship, not my problems to solve. but, speaking personally, if my partner were flirting with other people in such a way that a bunch of fans started shipping them and making fanart and fanfics about their dynamic, and I were uncomfortable with that, my first thought wouldn’t be to say no one is allowed to talk about those ships ever, it would be to talk to my partner and request that they stop flirting with other people, because it’s making me uncomfortable. similarly, if my partner came to me and said they were uncomfortable with how a bunch of fans ship me with my friends because I’ve been flirting with them, my first course of action would be to have a conversation about whether I should stop flirting with other people. y’know, setting boundaries and talking about things. like adults. instead of deciding to offload your relationship issues onto your audience for some fucking reason

I’m still trying to figure out how best to articulate this, but it bothers me how the narrative around this whole situation has landed on “here’s the proof that avid was never uncomfortable with scott’s behaviour” rather than “here’s the proof that scott repeatedly attempted to ensure avid wasn’t uncomfortable, and couldn’t have reasonably known otherwise.” it bothers me how casually diagnostic terms like “narcissist” or “psychotic” are being thrown around by fans and ccs alike. it bothers me how avid’s reliance on genAI for therapy is being turned into a punchline or meme instead of a sign of someone clearly in crisis. it bothers me how comfortable people are with misgendering avid. it bothers me how easily people will say horribly callous things about those that the community has decided it’s acceptable to hate.
