                                         the question both irritated and amused him. on one hand, he was having his intentions questioned, on the other, it sounded like the start of game, and jackson loved games, especially when they involved the mind. he sighed lightly, a cocky smile flickering on his lips. he stepped closer to the other, amusement evident in his eyes. “just friends?” he asked, tilting his head to the side, “how am i supposed to look at you?”

“you need to leave him.” dane said in his normally blunt manner while carefully dabbing anti-septic cream on another injury caused by his best friend’s... romantic interest. honestly, even he wasn’t quite sure what the two were. “this is getting ridiculous. the fuck you see in him anyway?”

night devoured the day and stars sparked to life in the absence of light. even the hazy orange glow from the city could drown them out. jamie stood, leaning on his car, an unlit cigarette already between his lips and stared at the sky. it was a mirror image of where he was twelve hours ago but this time he was waiting in front of where max worked. he was uncertain of how the night would go. there was a tentative plan for a party followed by returning to his house. or he would drive somewhere secluded but not far, possibly some alleyway, and eat her out until her mascara ran. either way, he needed a lighter.

in the back of his mind, guilt mingled with self-loathing and he was vividly aware that his phone remained silent. when he left the house thirty minutes ago, it was empty save for himself. kendal’s room was cleared out, bare, down to the photographs on the wall. it shouldn’t have surprised him, really, what did he expect after saying what he did? a bubble of hurt laughter had left him as he stood in the hollowed out room. this was what he wanted; wasn’t it?

[ there was a mouth on his, pressing his lips apart with an insistent tongue ] --- jamie let his lips fall open and the stranger’s tongue darted inside tasting like bitter lemons. he felt the pill land against the back of his throat and swallowed greedily, already too far gone to give a fuck what it was. the music drowned out the man’s words as he parted so jamie just shrugged, hands resting behind the other man’s neck as he was pressed against a brick wall in the back of the crowd. 

the sensation nearly made him fall apart. he was desperate and let it show, head tilting to the side to allow access and the man obliged, teeth moving to bruise skin in a way that left jamie gasping. the world was an effusion of color, sound, and oh god, touch [’that was definitely ecstasy.’] to the point where he barely recognized a too familiar face hunting for his own. “shit.”  [’what the fuck is he doing here?’] kendal was across the club looking lost, distressed, yet dubiously determined. “ah fuck.” that was from the stranger’s knee pressing against him in a way that made his head spin and forget about any familiar face or the consequence of being found.

Tilian felt that tight pain in his chest, those words made the feral beast ache but no words would leave his own mouth. He just stood there in silence and watched as Kendal stood before him..breaking. If his ears were out they’d lay flat, he knew he’s fucked up. He should have been there when Kendal needed it...he wasn’t quick enough.

“Kendal..I’m...” His pale yellow eyes lowered to the ground. “I’m sorry...” Tilian clenched his jaw ever so slightly, he was mad at himself but didn’t want that to show. The shapeshifter couldn’t really grasp on proper sentences, his body felt tense and now he rubbing his arm nervously.

“I’m here now..okay?.” He paused for a moment. “Please..I won’t let this happen again, I swear on my own life Kendal...” Tilian wasn’t sure what had exactly to the other when he wasn’t around, it made him worry but he just wanted to be there for the male. Slowly he opened his arms, inviting him for a hug, a form of contact..anything. Tilian just wanted to make this right.
