I don't really have a problem with a keeper (Neuer) being captain because I feel the Germany NT has other "Leaders" on the field to talk to the ref or keep their teammates in check. Höwedes, Hummels, Boateng, Khedira. You know what I mean?

I understand it isn't a testimonial match for him, which is why the DFB giving him and Podolski a "Farewell Match" is strange. Lahm, Mertesacker and Klose never got one. They were honored before a match and that was it. The DFB are about to begin WC Qualifiers, so they need to start new. Especially with Schweinsteiger, who hasn't played a match since the semifinal vs France. Is only practicing with the U21s. Why not use this game to show Mou and everyone else you can still play. You know?
Someone correct me if I’m wrong, but as far as I see it it is still different with Basti (and also Lukas) than with Miro, Lahm, etc. Basti and also Lukas are the ones everything started with, they’re not only part of the Sommermärchen but they’re the two who contriuted the most to the general feeling Germany got in 2006. They’re the two most remember the best. Germany simply loves them and it hurts a lot to say goodbye.Don’t get me wrong, Miro and Fips were as much part of it as those two are, but it’s still different. There’s a lot of more story to Lukas and Basti. Especially to Basti. Bastian is Germany’s ‘hero’. Especially after helping us a lot to win the world cup. He’s a ‘legend’.
Don’t get me wrong, in my opinion Fips and Miro deserved as much of an farewell as Basti is getting now, but it’s all about what the majority wants. The fans.
After all…. - I have not the slightest idea. Maybe it’s also because Miro, Fips and Mertesacker didn’t want a last match? Maybe they wanted the match against Argentina to be their last match? That’s what I would want. I would want my last match be the one where I won the cup.

With the news today that Schweinsteiger is NOT leaving Manchester United, even though he won't play, do you think he's at that point in his career where the passion is gone? With all that he's achieved in his career and at his age, especially with the amount of money he's earning at United, I can see why he's in no rush to leave at all.
Honestly, either that, or he’s just too proud to leave. He wants to prove he can still do it, probably, he’s never been in a situation like this before, I can imagine he’s too proud to leave a club like that. Unfortunately he can’t see that it’s just senseless to stay. I honestly don’t know, it makes me feel sick seeing him like that, I just want it to end tbh
I'm incredibly proud of the Germany Olympic Football Team. They only had one week of preparation and continued to grow together each day. They played their heart out and gave it all in the end. This bodes well for the Germany NT because there were a few players who impressed at this tournament who are pretty young.
Plus, they played against a top brasil team, against neymar!! this is an incredible success, thinking about how mixed up these very young players were... silver is actually unbelievable. In my opinion they were the better team and even deserved gold. But hey - silver is much more than all of us ever expected. hands down, they did awesome, we’re all so proud!
