I was invited to perform in the donaufestival last year by PinkPink Sorbet for a project called Future Fluxus. In my work I screened a digital installation which had a sonic component I collaborated with Ulf on. The recording included the sound of the crowd at the opening of Tara Donovan's exhibit at Pace Gallery in NYC. In true (post)fluxus form in my perofrmance I used a megaphone and failed at streaming my video and got confused. I recall the megaphone squealed loudly a few times and people may have gotten ear damage. After that people said they loved it! For me the highlight was Second Front. I particularly enjoyed Bibbe Oh in Second Front talk about and perform her father's fluxus work.
CocoRosie is the artist in residence at the donaufestival this year. They are collaborating with Rupert Casady, who is in fact one of the personas of Bianca Casady. Then, the Australian filmmaker Emma Freeman will make a selection from the submitted films and videos, which will then be scored live during the festival by CocoRosie and guests. The performance "Harmless Monster" will surely push the limits of cotton candy beards and epic levels of etherial vaudville creativity.
Submit something! I am. They might use it in the performance. I do feel at home with this circus of personas and fantastic muddy makeup moustaches. Much in common.

I am continuing to enjoy the sixty one and see what tracks are in the same circuit of rotation with mine. This time Black Shirt is in Explore-Open Mic section with an amazing band called Shine from Paris. They will be performing at SXSW this year.
In other French news how about Michel Hazanavicius who was awarded best director for his work on the film The Artist. In his acceptance speech he thanks Uggie the dog but I enjoy how he has mixed feelings about the dog when he mentions he doesn't think the dog cares. OF COURSE HE DOES!
The Artist was a total landslide with five awards including best picture, best director and best actor for Jean Dujardin.
Dujardin said of his character: "If George Valentin could speak, he would say 'Wow! Victorie! Genial! Merci!'" The film also won the Oscars for best original score and best costumes.
The French are smoking hot right now. Smoking hot.
Here is a very short sample of a song which came to me today. Currently I am writing, composing and tweaking other parts of the lyrics. I usually have a very hard time with song beginnings but in this I am enjoying how it jumps right into the lyrics. I have not decided if I will collaborate or move forward independently on it.
