That moment. I had been there before. Mentally I had prepared myself to hear my name called for 2nd Runner Up again. We all wanted this title. We had all worked hard and you can see from our faces just how much this moment meant to each of us. In that moment every doubt in my head solidified. I wasn't worthy. It was not my time. I was already self sabotaging my efforts; I wish I had've done this, or said that, or worn this or did that. Self-doubt is a killer of dreams. As much as I wanted this and I knew inside I was capable, imposter syndrome was overcoming my emotions. But...somewhere latent in my psyche, my self-belief was standing firm. Inner Kat remained positive, confident and sure...but the exterior hadn't got the memo. NOT hearing my name called offered a moment of relief. I did it! I had bested my previous result. I was ecstatic! I was happy to be 1st runner up to @greatbritishkatwalk. We had dreamt of that moment together...us holding hands. We joked about how we were both "Kat H's" and how nerve-wracking it would be to in that position patiently waiting to hear our name being called. Even in that moment when @k8solo7 called my name I was sure it was Kat's name I heard. I'll never forget the second it finally clicked...after Kat shook my hands so vigorously...it was me...she said Henry...that's me!!! I turned to Kat and said "oh god I'm gonna be sick!" To which she said..."no don't be sick on me!!" (TRUE FRIEND RIGHT THERE 😂) We had done it...together we made it to top 2 and even though it was my name, I was insanely proud of Kat and so glad to have shared that moment with her. That is gonna be an unforgettable experience. A whole month has passed since I was crowned your Ms Great Britain. What a month it has been and we still have so much more to cram into October. So far I have travelled to Cyprus, Swindon, Leicester, London, Southampton & Wales to attend events, support charities and to help fundraise for some very deserving causes. This weekend I'm heading to Blackpool for @missteengreatbritain and then next weekend I'm off to Malaga for @zumba ZIN Academy Spain. I am so proud to have this title, my plan for my reign is to evoke positive change within society, to shatter negative stereotypes and to inspire others to follow their wildest dreams. To be a leader, a mentor, a game-changer. To be a voice for those who are not strong enough to speak for themselves but also to be an amplifier for those who's voice alone is not loud enough. Crowning me not only made history but I will endeavour to make sure that representation is not just tokenism but it is normalised and far more commonplace going forward.
