Purple stepped through a hole in a boulder, stepping out onto thin air. For a moment, she wobbled, confused, before she fell on her rear. The portal rose up out of a sheer rock face, perfectly flat. The air was incredibly thin, and she began to pant for breath even as icy wind blasted across the surface. The wind dug and pulled, sliding her a few feet downwind from the portal, the hot air streaming through forming a cloud of mist that streamed upwards and backwards into the sky.
"Oof."
"Hello?" Red spun around, looking for the source of the disturbance. "Oh, hi there! When did you show up?"
"Just now. I did not think that I would come up from the ground. That's incredibly disconcerting."
"Now imagine coming out through a roof."
"Maybe I should look at where I'm going more carefully."
"The fog itself blocked most of your view anyway. Did someone send me something?"
"Well, aside from a few letters, Black asked me to pass on something she discovered down south."
Purple passed a few wax-sealed letters to Red as they continued speaking.
"She said she ported to the Monk's Enclave, but nobody was there--it looked like it had been abandoned for a century or more."
"Hmm. That's interesting. They were there only last month."
"Well, when I was there the entire compound was overgrown and worn down."
"I guess I have to check it out." Red said with a smile. "It's a good thing I have time before I travel."
"The order of Monks that previously inhabited the new ruins were rather mobile for secluded groups. I recall a series of temples wrapping around the world roughly at the same inclination. They would transfer between one and another when the moon changed phases."
"You think they got hit by a necromancer?"
"Probably not. There weren't signs of battle?"
"Just aging."
"Then probably not."
