Jaquilla Scales, 4, disappeared from her Wichita, Kansas home during the midnight hours of September 5, 2001. Her mother, Eureka, was only 14-years-old when she gave birth to Jaquilla so the little girl’s great- grandmother had primary custody. Also living in the home were Jaquilla’s two-year-old brother and two of their uncles. She was discovered missing from her bed at 3:00 a.m. The family dog didn’t bark and the back door was broken, so it couldn’t lock. Eureka was spending the night at a friends that evening. After Jaquilla’s disappearance, her brother was removed from the home by CPS. It took three years for him to be returned to his mother and now the two live just a few houses away from where Jaquilla was last seen. Police initially treated the case as a kidnapping, but as the investigation carried on they began to have doubts. Jaquilla is still missing and would be 21-years-old today. Jaquilla has black hair and brown eyes. Her upper teeth are decayed. She has a brown birthmark on the left side of her face and a scar on her upper right leg. Anyone with information is urged to contact the Wichita Police Department at 316-268-4646. She is our sister and her life matters.
