okay so. missingno is a result of glitched coding that wasnt completely removed from the game, implying there was in fact more than the original 150/151 in the games but they just got removed. this is proven by the fact it is an actual encouter, its name is missingno (missing number), it DOES have a pokedex entry even though you have to hack to access it, it has a cry (base 00, slightly altered in some cases, equivalent to a nidoran male), etc. anyways the most common method of finding it is the old man method where you talk to some old guy in viridian city who teaches you how to catch pokemon (i think?????) and then from there you go directly to cinnibar island and go up and down the east shore and eventually youll find missingno. DEPENDING on what you do different variations of missingno can be found. if i remember correctly, there are 4 versions: the r/b vers., the yellow vers., the pkmn tower ghost from lavender town, and the fossil vers. (can appear as kabutops or aerodactyl fossil). for example you cant have a silph scope at all if you want the tower ghost version. the only version where missingno is virtually inaccessible is yellow. the yellow version is different than the rb version and will destroy your game entirely. IF you manage to make it out of the battle without your game self-destructing, your player can duplicate or turn invisible and npcs will spawn in completely random locations. in all versions your hall of fame is gonna be kinda fucked up and your audio will be a bit weird after missingno but hey! small price to pay i think. anyways im pretty sure thats all i just wrote a whole fucking essay abt this omg <//3
