Did you know 2016 is a year of the Monkey as per the Chinese calendar? It started on February 8 (which is when China celebrates its New Year!), and will end on January 27, 2017 (Chinese New Year’s Eve).
The monkey is one of the 12 animals of the Chinese zodiac cycle and every 12 years, it’s a monkey year. 2015 was the year of the Sheep.
People are celebrating the year of the Monkey in different ways across the world and Kia and Kyle thought that Junior Explorers should mark this special occasion too!

Pygmy marmoset is the world’s smallest monkey. It only weighs around 4 ounces (113 grams) and is only around 5 inches (12.7 centimeters) tall.

Proboscis monkeys only eat unripe fruit. Eating ripe fruits may cause the sugar in them to ferment, causing bloating in the stomach and killing the monkey!
