my first 4 tablet weaving projects :) in chronological order, from top to bottom:
a variation on one of the tablet-woven bands from the Oseberg find, as modified by Impending Looms. Midway through this band I learned that it's best to reverse the turning direction as little as possible for the outermost cards, and suddenly the band got less bumpy :)
a Running Dog kivrim pattern. I'm so happy with how it turned out and I only wish I'd have made it long enough to be usable as a bag strap or belt. Also, here I learned how to finish bands so they don't unravel
Dublin Dragons with a skip-hole setup for the main cards. I initially started it with the tablets I'd made from playing cards that'd served me very well for the first two projects, but they were too flimsy for this skip-hole pattern. I switched to wooden cards and then also got an inkle loom, which made this pattern much easier to handle :)
Egyptian Diagonals! I used some patterns from Candace Crockett's book and Yrmegard's website as a starting point. This was a really good exercise in learning to understand how patterns work by modifying existing ones / coming up with variations and transitions between patterns. I added two D rings and now it's a belt :)
Time to decide what the next band should look like. I hear there's colours other than dark blue, orange-gold, and white, too...
