I think it's Dig in Your Fingers by Kirkaut. Be sure to read the original last chapter which is now published separately. Done nasty folks gave the author shit because she made Eggsy gain a few lbs in her original ending so she changed it.

Glad to help. It sounds like we might be in similar fields actually. I am a professor and if I sent a student to an interview where they got blindsided like that I would feel bad for putting them in that position not the other way around.
omg what you’re a PROFESSOR in a similar field?! I had no idea, that’s awesome!! The program I’m in is about business analytics/data science, but I haven’t gotten to the complex machine learning algorithms yet that this employer expected me to know already. I’m aware of them vaguely, but I don’t know how they actually work. I guess since it’s an internship I wasn’t expecting them to require that kind of experience beforehand, but lesson learned I guess lol.
I appreciate the professor POV, that helps me relax a little. I don’t want him to feel bad on my account of course, but knowing he probably won’t blame me for my humiliation is reassuring lmao. Thanks again :)
